The Blue Nest name comes from the people and places that have always felt like home to me.

“Blue” starts with my Grandma Sue’s blue velvet chair. It brings back memories of being comfortable, being together, and feeling at home. She noticed the little things—the feel of a fabric, the texture of something in her hands, and the details other people might pass right by.

​

She was also a list person. If you know me, that probably explains a few things. There was always a piece of paper in front of her with notes in the margins, scribbles in every corner, and a plan coming together. She had a way of figuring things out, and she was the person so many people turned to.

​

“Nest” comes from the homes my parents and both of my grandmas created. We have big families on all sides, mostly within 30 miles of each other, and so many of my favorite memories happened in someone’s living room or around the kitchen table.

​

It was watching Grey’s Anatomy every week with my mom, aunts, and sisters sprawled across the living room floor. Grandma Sue’s homemade chicken noodles at Thanksgiving. Spending all of Christmas Eve at Grandma Church’s. Dad’s Friday family pizza nights with cousins running wild.

 

Those homes were comfortable, lived in, and full of people. There was room to show up, settle in, and be yourself. That’s the feeling I’ve always connected with home.

The creative side runs in the family, too. Grandma Church was always taking pictures, scrapbooking, or sewing, and I loved seeing what she was working on. The sewing skills didn’t make their way to me, but the creativity—and piles of scrapbooks—certainly did.

​

Growing up, my mom would come home to find me reorganizing the refrigerator or kitchen cabinets, with everything pulled out and spread across the room. It always got worse before it got better, but I loved putting it back together in a way that made more sense. Naturally, that became my permanent chore. Probably should have seen that coming.

​

Looking back, Blue Nest makes a lot of sense. The attention to detail, the lists, the creativity, and the need to make a space work better were there long before the business was.

​

Today, I bring all of that into the homes we work in. Whether we’re helping an agent get a listing ready, creating a welcoming place for guests, or helping someone enjoy their own home a little more, the goal is to help people see what’s possible—and make getting there easier.
